It now has got 42 land-based casinos throughout the UK, spread from Plymouth all the way to Edinburgh.'
Also known as Casino de Genting, the casino is divided into several themed sections, including exclusive international and VIP rooms for elite gamblers, as well as 24-hour dining services. Do note that the casino denies entry for visitors who are Muslim or below 21 years old. Genting Group, is one of the few Malaysian conglomerate. Genting Berhad is the parent company to a few subsidiaries engaged in different industries. One of the most commonly known is the casino industry. When the word casino is in mind, the only place in Malaysia one could think of is Casino de Genting. Majority is lowered to 18, but gambling age still stays at 20 (both lottery and casino). Non-residents are not required to purchase entry levy to enter the casino. However, it is a statutory requirement for non-residents to present either of the following identification documents before entering the casino :
a. Foreign passport with any of the following :
i. Short-term immigration pass (Note: This category includes group passports with the particulars and photo graph of each member on the group);
ii. Long-term visit pass without photograph identification;
iii. Student pass without photograph identification;
iv. Notification of cancellation of student’s pass, visit pass and embarkation form issued by the ICA;
v. Notification letter issued by the Ministry of Manpower allowing the person named in the letter to work and stay in Singapore until issuance of his/her work pass card;
vi. Immigration (Exemption) Order (‘IEO’) stamp of the ICA (in the foreign passport); or
vii. Multiple Journey Visit Pass (MJVP) or Multiple Journey Pass (MJP) stamp issued by the ICA;
b. Long-term visit pass with photograph identification;
c. Student pass with photograph identification;
d. Work pass;

Genting Highlands is one of the popular resort developments in Malaysia which comprise hotels, casinos, shopping center and a theme park. It located at Pahang and perched on the peak of Gunung Ulu Kali at 1800 meters high. Genting Highlands was founded by Lim Goh Tong. It is the first and only legal gambling outfit in Malaysia since 1971. It also offers five hotels with more than 8000 rooms. In economic, Genting Highlands is consider as a pure monopoly. This is because it is a single seller and no close substitutes due to it is the only legal casino that get the license from government. If people want to gamble, they have no others choices and only can gambling at Genting Highlands, unless they go to others country like Singapore. Besides that, the reason why Genting Highlands can become a monopoly firm is also because it has a high barriers to entry. One of the examples is the casino in Genting had a legal protection by government which other firm cannot get it, so it’s monopoly position may be protected by the licensing that gave by government, and Genting also used aggressive tactic by mounting massive advertising campaigns, we can see the advertisement for Genting at anywhere and anytime. This barriers to entry made other firms difficult to entry and compete with Genting Highlands. For my opinion, I think that the main reason why many people like to go Genting Highlands is because of the casino. Yet the weather at there is also a reason why Malaysians like to go there. As we know Malaysia is a country which has hot weather, yet Genting Highlands has a cool climate during day and night. Apart from that, the theme part in Genting is also a very attractive part for people especially teenagers whose like to play irritate rides like flying coaster, space shot, pirate ship and so on. Last but not least, hotel at Genting Highlands give a very clean and comfortable living room for customers. Even there have more than 8000 hotel rooms in Genting Highlands, but there are always full booking and it is very difficult for us to book a room at there at weekend or holidays. All of this are the reasons why Genting Highlands is so successful and popular in Malaysia. For my personally, Genting Highlands is also one of my favourite places in Malaysia, even I still under age and cannot go into casino, yet I like to go the theme park and have fun at there with my friends during holidays.
